William Cline-Bailey will be in conversation with Francis Fuster on Feferity Radio on Saturday 11th September 2021. Francis Fuster is a Musician, Recording Artist and Percussionist from Freetown, Sierra Leone who currently resides in London.
In 1963 Francis Fuster started his musical journey when he became a drummer with Geraldo Pino and the Heartbeats. The band was very successful and toured extensively around West Africa. Francis Fuster remained a member of the band till 1971.
In 1969 Francis Fuster formed his own band called Barranta and moved to Lagos, Nigeria with the band. They toured extensively in Nigeria and recorded their first album whilst in Nigeria.
In 1975 Barranta went on tour to Liberia and whilst touring in Liberia the band made contact with
Hugh Masekela who produced their second album. The band also performed with vocalist Miatta Fahnbulleh .
Francis Fuster then travelled to New York to gain experience in production, stage management and sound engineering. Francis Fuster planned to accrue knowledge that would elevate the band to another level and also prepare them for the Festival of Arts and culture which was scheduled to take place in Nigeria in 1977.
